Today we received our confirmation that our home study is being reviewed for the girls in Oregon. We received the email from the website the day before yesterday. The email stated that our home study is being considered! They (a board from Oregon CFS, that is) have to now “narrow them down” to three potential matches.
Apparently, once the board picks those three, the girls’ caseworker will decide which family appears to be the BEST match for them. I believe that they will focus on one family at a time, but I’m not 100% sure how that part of things works. However, the first step is being considered. We have made it that far.
Of course, we are trying not to get our hopes up. However, some hope is a good thing. We well know we are a long way from being matched. IF we are chosen, they will give us more information at that time about their situation and conditions. It’s at that time we can decide if we still want to pursue the adoption. Once that decision is made, we head off to Oregon to meet them face-to-face. THAT is when I’ll get excited.
(For those of you that haven’t seen me on an adrenalin rush…here’s a visual: rat on acid. It’s pretty much like that.) Start praying for Corey now.
We have no idea how long this will take. It could be a couple of weeks or a couple of months. They have close to 50 families to consider and have to narrow it down to 3. It’s more than just reading through them, too. They do have to consider the girls’ personalities and special needs. They look at their profiles vs our home studies to see who matches best. What a stressful job that must be. (ugh) It almost makes me never want to complain about my job ever again.
We will keep you posted! In the meantime, I need photographs from our immediate family members to add to the life books we are putting together. It’s something to keep me busy, I suppose. Off to the Hobby Lobby….
Love to you all!
